Songs Not To Sing

This is my desktop photo today. No relation to the rest of the post. I just wanted a nice photo.

As of this morning, my grandmother is in the hospital. She had a heart attack Friday and is not expected to recover. This is not entirely sad as she is 97 1/2 years old and I think she is very ready to find out what is next. I am excited for her, and a little sad and sober for those she leaves behind - 2 sons, 1 daughter, 2 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law, 8 grandchildren (3 with spouses), and 11 great-grandchildren. She is an amazing woman who has served people all of her life through her chosen profession of nursing.

During our Monday devotional this morning we sang "Nearer My God To Thee." We hit the line "...angels to beckon me, nearer my God, to thee..." and I had a little bit of a hard time with that. Because that is what I wish for. I would very much like my Grandmother to have the opportunity to pass from this life to the next surrounded and welcomed by people she loves who have passed on before her - parents and grandparents, her husbands, brothers and sisters. That is my hope and prayer. So the line struck a little closer to my heart than it normally would.

Next time I am going to request "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree."

Just A Little In Love

It's not what you think.

I am kind of a sucker for jewelry. I like things that sparkle and shine. When I was a kid, one of my favorite games was to go to my mom's jewelry boxes and put on as many bracelets and necklaces as my skinny little limbs would hold. There were clip earrings and pins and I felt SO glamourous.

I haven't changed much as an adult. I still love things that sparkle and shine. So I was all about stopping when I learned that my recent vacation was going to take me by the studio and gift shop of a talented artisan jeweler. I felt like a kid in a candy store! It was hard to stick to just a couple of pairs.

I am a sucker for this flower pair. They are little-ish and dangly and I love the pattern printed on the metal. And because I'm boring and got them in silver, they go with everything!

This pair actually looks better on than the photo makes it look. Trust me they are gorgeous!

My favorite part of this pair is the shape. Dynamite!

The unexpected color combination here is so my favorite! And the floral pattern printed on the metal. I think the patterned metal is one of the trademarks of this designer's collections.

I am in love with this pair. I want to wear them with jeans. And everything else.

These cut-out earrings are to die for. And the color is amazing. I'm just sad they are on clearance. (Did I just say I was sad something is on clearance? There must be something wrong with me.)

How can you not want to wear this?

My life changed when I decided to admit that pink is pretty much my favorite color. Now I am free to adore this pair.

I am not sure exactly what my favorite thing is about this bracelet. There is just something about it.

I did good. I only got two pairs for myself. And one pair as a gift. *sigh* Great restraint, considering there is so much to love.
